Womp is a browser-based 3D modelling app where you combine and blend shapes and then render the result. Clayground’s browser studio is a clay sculpting tool: you add, carve, smooth and paint clay with brushes. Choose Womp for stylised objects and polished renders built from shapes; choose Clayground for characters and creatures you shape by hand, with nothing to install and no account.

When Womp is the better pick
If you want clean, rendered images of objects made from combined shapes, Womp is built for that, and its materials and rendering are further along than Clayground’s. It also suits people who think in primitives rather than in brush strokes. Womp’s pricing page listed a free plan and a paid Pro plan when I checked on 17 October 2026; plans change, so check Womp’s pricing page rather than relying on me.
When clay is the better pick
- You want to shape a character by hand. Brush work like Inflate, Flatten, Pinch and Smooth is closer to real clay than moving shapes around.
- You don’t want an account. The browser studio opens straight away and keeps your work on your device.
- You’re on a phone. The studio works with touch, with two fingers to undo (phone guide).
- You want to print or animate it. Print (STL) gives a 60 mm file (guide), and motion loops make a short clip (guide).
Using both
They fit together through GLB. Sculpt a character in the browser studio, export a GLB, and bring it into any tool that opens GLB. Check Womp’s current import options before planning a pipeline around it.
Questions people ask
Is there a free alternative to Womp?
Clayground’s browser studio is free with no account, but it is a clay sculpting tool rather than a shape-based modeller, so the way you work is different.
Is Womp free?
Womp has a free plan and a paid Pro plan. Plans change, so check its pricing page.
Which is better for characters, Womp or Clayground?
Clayground, if you like shaping by hand. Womp suits stylised objects made from combined shapes.
