Print your Phetta Fella

Your fella can live on your desk. Export a print-ready file in one click, then print it at home, at a library or makerspace, or with an online service.

A Phetta Fella clay character from Clayground's browser studio, ready to print

1. Get the file

Open the browser studio, make or open your fella, switch to Pro tools and press Print (STL) under Take it with you. You get an STL that's 60 mm tall, standing upright with its feet on the print bed. Most slicers let you scale it up or down from there.

Sculpted on Quest? Export a GLB from the headset, press Import GLB in the browser studio, then Print (STL). Thin details can soften on import, so keep your original.

2. Print it

  • At home: open the STL in your printer's slicer (Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio and others all read STL).
  • No printer? Many public libraries, schools and makerspaces have one you can use.
  • Online: services like Craftcloud compare prices from print shops; upload the STL and pick a material.

3. Tips for a good print

  • Chunky fellas print best. Very thin horns, arms or tails can snap; thicken them with Clay or Inflate first.
  • Each part is its own layer, so the file has overlapping shells. Slicers usually handle that; if yours warns, use its repair or merge option.
  • Arms and ears that stick out may need supports. Most slicers add them for you.
  • Prints come out one colour. Prime it and paint with acrylics, using your sculpt as the reference. That's half the fun.

Post your print with #Sculptober and tag @claygrnd. A painted print is a great entry for the weekly challenge.

Questions people ask

What size is the STL?

60 mm tall, measured in millimetres, which is what slicers expect. Scale it in your slicer for a bigger or smaller fella.

Can I print in colour?

The STL holds shape only. Print in one colour and paint it, or export a GLB with colour for services that offer full-colour printing.

Is it free?

The studio and the STL export are free. Printing costs whatever your printer, library or print service charges.
