How scaling works
- Uniform. Every side scales by the same amount, so the shape keeps its proportions.
- Exact length. Pick a side and a length; the other sides follow.
- Units. STL has no unit and slicers read it as millimetres. Change File is in if your file was made in inches or metres.
Questions
How do I resize an STL?
Drop the file on this page, type a percentage or a length for one side, check the new size, and press Download STL.
Does scaling change the shape?
No. All three sides scale together. The page doesn’t stretch one side on its own.
Why is my STL tiny or huge in the slicer?
The file and the slicer disagree about units. STL has none, and slicers read millimetres. A model made in metres arrives 1000 times too small. Set File is in to the unit it was made in, and Write as to millimetres.
Can I scale a GLB or OBJ?
Yes. Open any type this site reads, scale it, and save it as STL, 3MF or OBJ.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is opened and converted in your browser, and it stays on your device.
