STL volume and cost calculator
It runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How it is worked out
- Volume. The space inside the closed surface, summed triangle by triangle. It needs a closed surface; an open one is flagged and its volume is only approximate.
- Material used. The walls (surface area times wall thickness) are solid; the rest is filled at your infill percentage. Resin prints solid.
- Not counted. Supports, brims, skirts and purge. A slicer’s own estimate is the one to trust for the final number.
Questions
How do I find the volume of an STL?
Drop the file on this page. The volume shows under What’s inside, in cubic centimetres, once the file is open.
How much filament will my print use?
Pick your material, infill and wall thickness. The page works out grams, filament length and cost from the model’s volume and surface area. It is an estimate; supports and purge come on top.
Why does it say the surface is open?
A closed surface has no holes, and every edge is shared by two triangles. An open one has gaps, so the volume is only approximate. Repair it in your slicer, Meshmixer or Blender before printing.
The size looks wrong. Is the STL in inches?
STL stores no unit. The page reads it as millimetres, the slicer default. If the part is really in inches or metres, change File is in.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is opened and converted in your browser, and it stays on your device.
