Clayground's browser studio animates 3D clay in a stop-motion style: one press adds a looping motion to the whole character, playback steps at 12 frames a second like a hand-animated film, and the surface 'boils' slightly on each frame the way real clay does between shots. You can record it as a square video to share.
Make one in a minute
- Open the browser studio and tap Surprise me for a character, or sculpt your own.
- On a phone, tap Dance. On a computer, switch to Pro tools, open Motion and pick Breathe, Sway, Hop, Spin or Wobble.
- Tap Clip (or Record clip). You get a 1080 × 1080 video with your character's name on it, ready to post.
What makes it look like claymation
Stop motion holds each pose for a moment instead of gliding, so playback runs 'on twos' at 12 frames a second. Real clay also shimmers between shots because no two touches are the same; the studio adds that boil to the surface on every frame. Onion skins show the poses either side of where you are, the way animators flip between frames. Each of these is a switch in the Motion panel if you want it smoother.
Go further
- Pose by hand: set a layer's position, rotation and scale, then add keys on the timeline (up to 24 per layer, 10 seconds long).
- Export an animated GLB to use the motion in Blender or a game engine.
- In VR, the Quest app has a full timeline with Breathe, Sway and Boil loops, live recording and frame-by-frame poses. Start here.
Honestly
This is quick, playful character animation, not a replacement for frame-by-frame stop-motion software or a full 3D animation package. Motions move whole parts rather than bending the clay itself. For a short loop to post, a reaction GIF-style clip or a challenge entry, it's the fastest way I know.
Questions people ask
Is it free?
Yes. The browser studio is free with no account, on phones and computers.
What format is the clip?
A square 1080 × 1080 video: MP4 where the browser supports it, otherwise WebM. Phones open the share sheet directly.
Can I animate my own sculpt, not a Phetta Fella?
Yes. Motion works on any sculpt; every visible layer moves together.
