Sculptober 2026: 31 prompts to sculpt

Sculptober is a month of small daily sculpts, one prompt a day all October. Here's my prompt list for 2026, how to take part with nothing but a browser, and how to keep going when day 14 is Eyeball and you're tired.

Sculptober is a yearly October art challenge for sculptors: you make one small sculpture a day from a list of prompts and post it with #Sculptober, the way Inktober works for drawing. There are many lists; any is fine. Clayground's 2026 list has 31 one-word prompts, from Blob on the 1st to Your costume on the 31st, and you can sculpt each one free in the browser studio or in VR on Meta Quest.

How to join

  • Pick today's prompt from the list below, or open the challenge page, which shows today's.
  • Sculpt it in the free browser studio on a computer or phone, or in Clayground on your Quest. The challenge page's Start button opens the studio with the prompt on screen.
  • Save a picture or a short clip (the studio's Record clip makes a square video).
  • Post it with #Sculptober and #ClaygroundChallenge, and tag @claygrnd. I repost favourites every Monday.
  • Skip days, double up, or use another Sculptober list. There are no rules except to make something.

Tips to make it to day 31

  • Keep it small. A sculpt a day only works if each one takes 15 to 30 minutes. One strong shape beats a detailed one you don't finish.
  • Reuse a base. Start from a ball, or tap Surprise me and turn the fella into the prompt: a fella in a witch hat, a fella that is toast.
  • Use shapes. In Pro tools, Shapes stamps balls, blocks, cones and rings. Ghosts, mushrooms, candles and bones come together fast.
  • Make it move. Motion → Wobble or Hop makes a clip people stop scrolling for. How to animate it.
  • Catch up kindly. Missed a week? Do today's prompt and carry on. Nobody is counting but you.

Ideas for the trickier prompts

  • Teeth: a big smile on a fella, or a tooth with a face. A crease along the gum line does a lot.
  • Eyeball: a ball with a painted iris and a few red veins. Bonus for a tiny top hat.
  • Twins: sculpt one, turn on Mirror, and give the other a different expression.
  • Grumpy: low, heavy brows and a mouth pulled down at the corners. Asymmetry helps.
  • Your costume: what are you going as? Sculpt yourself, as a Phetta Fella.

Sculptober with friends or a class

It's more fun with company. Pick a prompt together and compare at the end of the day, or put everyone's sculpts side by side on a Friday. In a classroom, one prompt makes a good 15-minute warm-up: no accounts, nothing to install, and students save a picture to hand in. The Chromebook lesson plan has the setup. Want it competitive? Sculpt-off turns a prompt into a 90-second party game on everyone's phones.

Keep it

Save each sculpt with Save project so you have the editable file, and a picture for your grid. At the end of the month you'll have 31 little sculptures and a much quicker hand. Want one on your desk? Print it. Want one to fight? Turn it into a Smoosh fighter.

Questions people ask

What is Sculptober?

An October challenge to sculpt one prompt a day, posted with #Sculptober. It's like Inktober, for sculpture.

Do I need real clay or a 3D program?

Neither. The browser studio is free in any browser, on a phone or a computer, with no account.

Can I start late?

Yes. Start on today's prompt, or anywhere in the list. Plenty of people do half.

Is this the official Sculptober list?

There isn't one official list; many artists and studios publish their own. This is Clayground's, and any list is welcome.
