Make a GLB
much smaller.
It runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
What it changes
- Textures. Capped at the size you pick and, for a website, saved as WebP.
- Triangles. The ones that change the shape least go first. Pull the slider down and watch the preview.
- Geometry. Meshopt packs it smaller. three.js, Babylon.js and model-viewer open it.
- Clean-up. Duplicate and unused data go on every run. Animation, bones and materials stay.
Made the GLB in Clayground? The GLB viewer converts it to STL, exporting to Blender covers what to fix after, and Rig a fella gets it ready for a game.
Questions
How do I compress a GLB file?
Drop it on this page, say whether it is for a website or for Blender and game engines, cut triangles or texture size if you want, and press Compress. The result shows the new size before you download it.
How much smaller will it get?
Textures are usually most of a GLB, so shrinking them saves the most. The bar under What’s in it shows textures against geometry, so you can see where the bytes are before you start.
Does it lower the quality?
Smaller textures and fewer triangles do, and the Compressed button shows the difference before you download. Meshopt only rounds positions slightly, which is not visible at normal sizes.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The work happens in your browser, and the model stays on your device.
Why won’t the compressed GLB open in Blender?
Meshopt and WebP are newer parts of the GLB format that Blender and some game engines don’t read. Choose Blender or a game engine under Use it in, which leaves both off.
Can it open Draco files?
Yes. A GLB squeezed with Draco opens here and comes out unpacked. This tool writes Meshopt, which browsers decode quickly, not Draco.
How big a file can it take?
Up to 250 MB, as long as your device has the memory. A phone manages less than a computer.
