Ball to animal
45 minutes. Students hand in a picture, from Export, then Save image.
Before class
- Open the studio on one device first and check that it loads on your network.
- Put the class link on the board or in your class page.
- If a device already holds a sculpt, the studio offers it back. Students choose Start a new ball.
Run it
| 5 min | Warm-up: talk about what makes a character cute (big head, small body, low face). |
|---|---|
| 15 min | Shapes: turn the ball into an animal using only shapes. Mirror makes both sides at once. |
| 10 min | Refine with Smooth, then paint. Rule: one strong feature, not ten small ones. |
| 10 min | Gallery walk: everyone turns their screen; classmates name one thing that works. |
| 5 min | Save a picture to hand in. |
Student steps
- Pick an animal. Name the one feature that makes it that animal: ears, a trunk, a tail or a beak.
- Open Shapes. Check Mirror is on, then add two ears to the ball so both sides match.
- Add two eyes and two cheeks with Shapes.
- Switch a shape to Cut and cut a small mouth.
- Press Smooth and soften any sharp joins.
- Press Paint and give it two colours.
- Press Export, then Save image. Hand in the picture.
Ask the class
- Which feature tells you what the animal is?
- What did you leave out, and did the animal still read?
